With the recent news of NI's insolvency, might MSF start to get 3rd party instruments? I doubt Kontakt will truly disappear, but there is unease about its longevity.

MSoundFactory already supports third-party instruments. Anyone can create a new instrument and distribute it, either for free or under a license. See, for example, this quick tutorial:
