Hello Ample Sound,

Is there a MIDI trigger (note) for activating up strokes and down strokes on lead and rhythm guitars without using Strummer? And if so would that mess with humanization or would (C0) reset that after the trigger?

I'm working with the AGPF 4.0

Thanks.

Thanks Mountainmaster,

Yeah, I already know about the stroke noise triggers. I was wondering about finger picking up and down options for individual open/muted notes, or do you have to accept whatever samples that pop up at any given time? I guess I was just making sure that I wasn't missing out on any hidden tricks.

The reason I ask is that some notes are more prominent than others, and this can cause frustration when trying to make consistent (smooth) mixes. The only solution I've found is to force the suspect note to a different string, so the fret action might sound smoother or more subdued.

Do you mean you want to specify the pick direction for every note, that is not possible for now, because the number of samples are not enough to implement this feature.

Liang,

Thanks for the reply. That was my initial assumption. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. May I ask how many samples there are per note on the same fret? Because I swear I'm hearing some of them sound differently through my playbacks.

The number of samples depends on the articulation, for sustain, there are 4 samples velocity layer for the same note, 2 for picking up, 2 for picking down.

Liang,

Thank you for the information... that puts things in perspective. One last question: So for sustain (the 4 samples for picking up and down) would those randomly be activated after drawing in MIDI notes for a lead guitar line, or are those only activated using a rhythm guitar in Strummer?

It depends on the sample cycle mode, in separate mode, the 4 samples would be down/up/down/up, the next 4 samples would be up/down/up/down; in round robin mode, the 4 samples would be down/up/down/up.

I was wondering how you approached the sampling. That makes perfect sense, and I'm glad to hear that it was logically organized when created.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions, Liang.
