I thought I'd post this finding (well, it was news to me anyway) in case this helps anyone in a similar situation. I've recently purchased a 4K monitor to use with my Ubuntu 24.04 workstation. With such a mega resolution I have been trying all sorts of combinations of desktop scaling, Waveform scaling, and plugin scaling, to try to find a set-up which looked nice and consistent. I never managed it.

Today I read that the latest GNOME in Ubuntu 25.10 has updated display scaling compared to the version in Ubuntu 24.04. I decided to take a backup and upgrade to Ubuntu 25.10 and things are so much better.

All I have to do now is set my desktop resolution to 166% scaling, and leave Waveform and the plugins at 100%. The GNOME desktop scaling seems to take care of everything. Even the Waveform built-in plugins such as the Chord Companion are correctly scaled and super-sharp.

Attached is a 4K screenshot for the curious.
