Cool... all the people who have not been using the betas will get to use all the new stuff. Automation is so so much better in V6!

They never restored the track selector they took away from multi-track piano roll editing.
In Bitwig 6, the piano roll only shows clips or tracks that you have selected in the arrangement view, with an option to hide them. You don't have access to a full list like you do in Bitwig 5, so you have to keep going back and forth between the piano roll and arrangement view in order to do multi-track piano roll editing. And every time you change selections in the arrangement view, the piano roll view resets its zoom and scroll position.
I reported this problem to them multiple times during the beta, including writing an essay-sized email on it with screenshots, and they said they had received my feedback, but they never acted on it. I know several other people did, too, including people I talked to about it extensively on Discord. I guess this is how Bitwig intends for the program to work from now on.
The original reason I started using Bitwig instead of Live was for the better multi-track piano roll that also still has MPE pitch control. Because Live works the way Bitwig 6 does, requiring ping-pong interaction with the arrangement view in order to do multi-track piano roll editing. With that gone, I don't really have a reason to use Bitwig anymore. The modulation system turned out to not really affect my productions very much, in the end.
The v6 update was great, except this one thing, which kind of ruins the main reason I was using the program, for me. Oh well.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Yeah, it's a bummer for those who used that way of working. I never liked/used the track list. I found it busy and visually confusing. I prefer how it is now.tumface wrote: Thu Feb 26, 2026 5:46 pm

Hopefully for you, there will be some future refinement that resolves it for you.

Actually, I agree with you that it was busy and basically showing redundant information. I don't think it was a great design.pdxindy wrote: Thu Feb 26, 2026 5:57 pm Yeah, it's a bummer for those who used that way of working. I never liked/used the track list. But it was better than what I have now. Like, you can say that it looks better and is less cluttered, sure. That's subjective but I actually agree with you, too.
Objectively, there is no way around the actual problem of having to move the mouse back and forth all the time to change selections and switch between tracks and keep fixing the view resetting. That's not subjective.
It's so much slower (try doing a screen recording and set markers to add up cumulative time of actions over a 5 minute period) that it's not worth using Bitwig at all for me, now.

It's still possible they'll adjust this in future releases, as offering an option to list all tracks seems like it could be done quite easily. I wouldn't bet on much changing before the release of 6.0, but maybe in a point release.

I'm thinking that later this year, they may offer another free synth for those who upgrade. They've offered Bazille and Twin 3 before. Zebra 3 or Legacy would be nice!paterpeter wrote: Thu Feb 26, 2026 5:24 pm I'd appreciate a sale on plan upgrades together with the release

Yup... let's see how it goes, how regular users respond in this area. If enough people want such a list back, it does not seem like a feature that would incompatible with the V6 editor.Dionysos wrote: Thu Feb 26, 2026 8:58 pm It's still possible they'll adjust this in future releases, as offering an option to list all tracks seems like it could be done quite easily. Personally I never used the old track list because I found it too tedious constantly clicking eyes and locks to get to what I wanted to edit.
I prefer the new editor as it's faster (for how I work) to select what I want in the Arranger and edit. Plus there is the ability to use a key command to go back to previous selections (although the key command is bugged at the moment in B15).

I don't understand how they can put a date on this when each new beta is introducing regressions. It feels like promises are being made that can't be delivered. I'm sad to say it's felt like this for a while.

As long as they've cleaned up the crashes, some remaining bugs can be cleaned up in the subsequent point updates.BazJacuzzi wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2026 3:23 am I don't understand how they can put a date on this when each new beta is introducing regressions. For sure, but that's a big ask in a week. I can't imagine the devs are happy about this.pdxindy wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2026 4:21 amAs long as they've cleaned up the crashes, some remaining bugs can be cleaned up in the subsequent point updates.BazJacuzzi wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2026 3:23 am I don't understand how they can put a date on this when each new beta is introducing regressions. Don't touch it till v6.1.x for stability and major issues/bugs to be somewhat resolved...
The flood gates of emails to support will start on the 11th and it's going to be a while till they resolve the 2% of those issues they receive. Requests, wont even be considered. It will be all hands on deck and make sure this thing is stable and works...

Exactly, but the problem with this is it leaves people on 6.0.x high and dry because they don't backport their bugfixes.MegaPixel wrote: Tue Mar 03, 2026 1:27 pm Don't touch it till v6.1.x for stability and major issues/bugs to be somewhat resolved...
