Here's a weird one. When opening Waveform Pro yesterday I was offered an update to Biotek 2 but the update failed and the following message popped up:

It's good that you are reporting it, but you can download it from the your account on the Tracktion website, too.
Direct link to BioTek 2 download - https://downloads.tracktion.com/biotek2 ... .4.0.0.exe
FWIW, I just ran it, and it worked for me (didn't install AAX, though)

Thanks but I rarely use Biotek. I just happened to notice the update was available from the manager.telecharge wrote: Sat Mar 07, 2026 4:46 pm It's good that you are reporting it, but you can download it from the your account on the Tracktion website, too.

If they don't fix the issue in house then I'll download from the link you provided.

The BioTek 2 update won't run on MacOS Sequoia 15.7.4 either. I've downloaded it via the website and the download manager. It refuses to run.
UPDATE: It works now.

Possibly so. But the upgrade from 2 is $99 so not something I can justify buying in this current economic climate.

I am also on 2, there just wasn't enough to even think about upgrading (even though it does look nicer).

I just tried updating again from the download manager and even though I placed the .exe I downloaded from my account into the download folder it still failed. However, when I ran the same .exe outside of the manager the update worked.cjayconrod wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 2:37 am The BioTek 2 update won't run on MacOS Sequoia 15.7.4 either. I've had quite a few issues with Tracktion's Download Manager in the past. Most of the time it will fail to update Waveform Pro. The manager will show the latest version is installed (which it also did with the Biotek 2.4.0 update) when in fact it was not. I've had to manually update each time that happens which of course makes having a download manager kind of pointless.
I've reported it here several times but the issue still exists. It's been eight months or more since the last time I submitted a support ticket on a different matter without a response so I don't have the willpower to open another one for this issue.
I think the people behind Tracktion are great guys, I just think they have a manpower shortage or are just spread too thin between other projects for other developers.

Yeah, their download manager is pretty sucky.
Nothing against it, but my BioTek 3 post was just a dumb capitalist consumer, FOMO joke, really.

The Download Manager was hitting a web server error and the download wasn't a proper EXE. Windows was doing the best it could with an EXE file that just had server error text in it.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

The more confusing part about the image in the first post is that it says it's a 16-bit application!
Something must have gone very wrong in the compilation/build process because I wouldn't imagine any modern compiler would even build in 16-bit. That's like Windows 3.1 age
