Would I place a compressor plug in before or after MAutovolume on Equalizer APO?

Im currently using MAutovolume and TDR Nova on Equalizer APO for when i watch TV shows and movies. I would use just the MAutovolume but in order to bring up the lows to the point where I like it it ends up bringing down the highs too much. So what im doing is using TDR Nova as an upward compressor to bring up the lows and MAutovolume on a lower setting where it brings down the highs just a little bit. My question is if im doing this would it be better to have MAutovolume in the 1 slot before TDR Nova in the 2 slot. Or would it better to have TDR first and MAutovolume after it?

If it turns down the louder parts too much, simply increase the output volume. If you want to use the 2 plugins like this, I would place MAV first.

I thought Output button is basically the same as a Volume button. Like the same as just turning up the volume on my tv.jmg8 wrote: Tue Apr 07, 2026 12:09 pm If it turns down the louder parts too much, simply increase the output volume. The problem is it theres a middle point where Mautovolume squashes both sides too. In order to get it to where the quiets sound good with the middle point of volume the louds are squished down way too much. Theres no difference in sound between that middle point and louder sounds(like explosions). So turning up the volume doesnt help.
Can you explain to me the Output thing? I appreciate it a lot

I am not sure I understand, sorry. You say the loud parts are squished, but also that they are not different from the middle point. I assume the middle point is your threshold, where you want there to be no change in volume? Then you want quieter stuff to increase the level and louder to decrease?
I guess you want the quiet parts to increase more than the loud parts will decrease? If so, you can try the input gain. This is effectively changing the threshold "middle point" and balancing the upward and downward compression.
If you could record some audio with a problematic source, then process it with what you have so far (using Melda only). Send it (both dry and wet) to our support email. I will take a look and see if I can find better settings for you.

Yea the problem i have is that I dont want the louder parts and quieter parts to be equally decreased as the louder parts need to be decreased only a little bit while the quiet parts need to be increased more.jmg8 wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2026 7:54 am I am not sure I understand, sorry. So changing the Input would help with that? In which direction? Like should I decrease it from 0 to -20 or increase it from 0 to +20?
