Kaiku — free FM synthesizer | VST3 | Linux / macOS / Windows

• Six-operator FM synthesizer built to approximate two things that don't exist inside it: a hurdy gurdy wheel and a human mouth.
• Three parallel FM stacks. The primary voice shapes vowel body, nasal upper partial, and a carrier running 8 cents sharp against the fundamental — the slow beating is the wheel. On accented notes a fourth voice fires and decays in 80ms. No sustain. The trompette bark.
• Four patches: Tyhjyydenkaiku, Kuilunsikiö, Pohjankaiku, Kuilukaiku.
• 16-voice polyphony. Velocity-triggered trompette layer. APVTS parameter state for DAW automation.
• Built for REAPER on Linux. Also ships for Windows and macOS.

A couple of notes from a native Finnish speaker:

kuule kaikun ensimmäiset äänet.

If the word "kaiku" is a common name, then correct inflection is "kaiun" (the 'k' in the middle drops out). As a proper name "Kaikun" might work in some cases, although that kinda implies that the proper name "Kaiku" is not (or is not used as) a Finnish word here. Not sure what the official rules is, but ... pretty much whenever it's treated as a "Finnish word" you'd inflect as "kaiun."

The word "hex" translates to Finnish as "heksa" (basically latin/greek "hexa" but with 'ks' in place of x) and inflects as heksoja.

Also we if we want to be really pedantic, the usage of 'ne' here is actually slang (and technically impolite if we're referring to people) because 'ne' is the plural for 'se' which is equivalent to English 'it' ... where the proper pronoun to refer to a person would be 'hän' with the plural 'he' ... but this is arguably nitpicking .. because at least here in the capital about 99% of native Finnish speakers would use 'se' and 'ne' almost exclusively, making it so common the "proper" versions actually tend to sound a bit excessively formal.

Finnish doesn't really have a different word for delay and reverb [edit: or "echo" for that matter].

edit: Well, "viive" would be what a delay literally translates to, but I'm not sure if I've ever heard anyone call a delay effect that.
