Is there a way to move edits from one project to another?

Is there a way to delete projects from within Tracktion? It seems as though the only thing you can do is close them.

Why can't I just turn on the red Automation Write Mode and tweak knobs in PSOFT's Void modular synth and play them back with the green Automation Read Mode on? I could have sworn I used to be able to do this in Cubase.

In Cubase when you're editing controllers you can use a line. In Tracktion, it seems like you're limited to using a pencil. Please tell me I'm wrong?

An edit is just a collection of pointers and references to clips, so moving an edit to another project has no real purpose in most cases. However, if what you're trying to do is create a shiny clean new project directory because your old one is cluttered and you couldn't be bothered using the "find orphan clips" feature or otherwise manage it (I'm like this!), you just export the edit (not the entire project, just the edit) and then re-import it in your shiny new one, which will move copies of all appropriate audio and MIDI clips.

Alternatively, if you don't mind keeping the original folder around and will remember to NOT delete it (the audio and MIDI in the edit will be referenced to this directory unless you export!), you can just create a new project and physically move the edit into the directory using Windows explorer. Just drag the "My_test_edit.edit" file into your project and it's automatically imported. I suggest copying the edit into your new project folder first, because if you delete the edit in your new project without doing so, the OLD edit will be deleted. Why? The imported edit file is just a shortcut to the old one. Delete the new and you delete the old. Hence, make a copy!

Not that I know of, but again-- closing it just removes the 'shortcut' inside Tracktion, meaning that you can clean up your working area without actually deleting files. If you truly want things deleted, it's just a matter of seconds to do it in Windows explorer.

I don't know about Void, but with most VSTi, the way you described is exactly the way it's done. I don't have enough knowledge to guess or explain why it doesn't work with Void, but I've noticed that there ARE VSTi that it works with and ones it doesn't.

In the Piano roll you mean? You're not wrong. ;) What do you need the line to do? When you're dragging with the pencil, if you accidentally jump to the next key, it doesn't start writing a new note, but shifts the whole thing along, so you just have to move back down to the correct key.

I find other functions are better automated externally. If I have waves of volume, I'll automate the volume filter rather than edit velocities in the piano roll.

Everyone has indicated that it'll be improved with T2, but for now, MIDI implementation is one of the most talked-about weaknesses in T1.

cc controllers can only be drawn with the pencil.

If you want a line tool, do a search for a plug called cc rider by a user named modulr.

http://subminimal.org/tools.php

There are a number of useful tools there.

Thanks moduLR. :)
