I've been saying that I'm going to do this for some time, so here goes.
Below are some links to some MP3's of some patches I put together on Positron this afternoon. The FX unit isn't yet integrated, so what you're listening to is the dry, raw sound of the synth itself. I've also made liberal use of the various unison detune modes that Positron offers, I think you'll agree that it sounds totally FAT!
Cheers
Dave
Deep Sweep
Fat Lead
Swirly Digital Sweep
Swirly Pad
Warm Analogue Brass

Dunno about you but I always think a 128kbit/s MP3 sounds a bit woolly and fuzzy in the bass as well as harsh on the treble.
Positron has definately got a more modern, digital sound though. We're trying to make it a bit more stand-out and unique.
Cheers

I like this sound <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" />
I like it a bit harsh <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
The dems are good too. The music brings out the tone.
I guess there's another sexy synth on the way <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="cool.gif" />
Feel free to lay more of these on us if you like.

Hmm. I hadn't even used the Ring Mod or Sync modes.
Positron can be harsher....

I didn't think it sounded very harsh <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="confused.gif" /> swirly pad in particular is lovely and lush considering there are no fx on there.
aye.. a wee mate for my electron when it comes oot.

The lead riff is a slightly edited version of a MIDI file lifted from GMedia Music's "Epic House" CD-ROM. Check out www.gmediamusic.com for more details.

Yep, I agree, mp3's do sound woolly and fuzzy, but I can still hear that spikey digital edge I loathe in so many of todays modern synthesizers. I know everyone has a different taste and a different idea about what sounds good (to them). I'm after a glassy, liquid sound without that's harmonically rich and well-defined without the harshness and that needle-like high-frequency content.
Smoke a bowel and you'll know what I mean..... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" />

Tell us a bit more about Positron.
Where does it fit in your range. I seem to recall reading something (?) to the effect that it was a new polysynth, less expensive than Electron. Sounds like it has a character of it's own. MP3s are quite pleasing to my ear.

Antipodes

Positron will fit right in the middle of the range. The updated Atom will be a low-cost, CPU-friendly synth, then Positron comes next and finally the new Electron takes the top position for price/complexity/cpu usage.
Hope this helps
