Am I missing something by not doing the audio loopback test?

Fellow Tracktioneers;

I haven't yet performed the audio loopback test (where you connect the output to an input).

I haven't done it since it's mostly a cabling hassle.

What am I missing out on? I don't notice latency built into my rendered tracks whilst (UK Tracktioneers, any bonus points for using 'whilst'?) also playing audio tracks that were recorded direct.

Is there still some timing mismatch there that I just am not aware of? My ASIO control says I'm at something like 5 mS latency.

You're doing excellent as long as you don't notice any "lag" in stuff you record on top of existing tracks.

I only started noticing when zooming in extremely on the time axis on a track I ran through an effect looped back. Couldn't notice by ear and that was 12ms.
