Hi, I'm new to Tracktion and so far I'm really impressed (great interface!) but I'm having trouble copying and pasting MIDI. I searched the forum and didn't find anything.
Let's say in track 1 have a bunch of MIDI events. I use the pointer tool from the MIDI editor and lasso some of the events which go from yellow to red. I use Ctrl-C and a little ballon says "copied to clipboard." Good so far.
Track 2 is empty so I insert a new blank MIDI clip. I click in the new, empty clip and it turns red. I then use Ctrl-I to paste the clipboard and I get a ballon that says "nothing to paste." What's going on?
Clipboard -> Show Clipboard Contents says there are some MIDI notes. How can I paste MIDI? Thanks in advance for your help.

To paste notes from clip to clip I think you have to actually open the new empty clip. Meaning double clicking it or expanding it until it shows the piano roll. Then place the cursor within the clip and paste (Control-V). You cant just highlight the clip.chardin wrote:Hi, I'm new to Tracktion and so far I'm really impressed (great interface!) but I'm having trouble copying and pasting MIDI. A faster way for me is just to Control-Drag the clip I want to copy to another track and tweak as necessary.

Thanks for the quick responses. Tingle, the MIDI track I'm working is fairly large. You're suggestion would work but it would be very tedious. TD80, I tried opening the MIDI editor to paste in the new track without any joy. Ctrl-drag grabs the whole clip; I only want a portion of it.
OK, I think I figured it out.
In the original MIDI track, I moved the Mark In and Mark Out position markers to surround the bars I wanted. I can then click on Copy Marked Section to put the tasty bits to the clipboard.
I can then paste into the new MIDI track. Not exactly what I expected but it works. If someone has a better way, please let me know.

another thing you might want to try is copying the clip, then trimming it to the part you want to keep. You can do this by grabbing the 'hollow' triangles at the top corners of the clip, or using / to cut selected clips at the cursor position.
As a best practice: When you've got a trimmed clip hit the 'delete content' menu in the clip properties panel and select 'notes beyond start and end of clip'
