Is there an easy way to construct drum patterns in Tracktion? The piano roll doesn't quite cut it. Is there a plug-in that adds a drum editing grid mode? Or perhaps will that be a feature in Tracktion 2.0?

Thanks,

Mark

Stepchild is nice and support drag and drop http://www.kvraudio.com/get/675.html

Yes, but StepChild is not cross-platform, nor is it specific to drum editing. I too would like to see a drum grid in Tracktion 2, and I hope it's one of the forthcoming features.

I've asked for this kind of thing here before (and i'm on mac so that makes it even more difficult, for freeware anyway), didn't find it, so i just got used to the piano roll, it's not too bad once you get used to it... For some time I used the drum 16 instrument in reaktor, running as a standalone and connected to tracktion with virtual midi cable. It seems like there's no way to sync T and Reaktor though, so it's not really the most elegant solution (that's why i chose the piano roll after a while)...
But i'd still be happy to find something, so good luck!

if you zoom in on the track notes, you can approximately get a pretty nice drum grid going on ;)

i'm probably just repeating Ron but if you're triggering sounds in the Tracktion sampler then the sample name appears in the midi editor if you zoom in far enough.

Dead good for simple drum sounds.

I use an external module(Korg NX5R)If I set the input to channel 10 and the clip to channel 10,I can zoom in on the piano roll until I see the names of all the various drum instruments also.

Pretty cool, I thought

I personally use dr008, which covers all the ground I ever need... I dont even use their built in step sequencer, at least yet, because its so easy to do in tracktion. I did request jules to put in a "lock note length" to help in drum/step gridding though
