I wonder what they will say now?

I'm just making some general observations of what's going on here.
First of all, it seems that those who have been negative about T2 have really had to eat their words. I mean, we've not even finished the feature list yet and alot of things have been added that add GREAT value to T.
Also, what will the people say who have decided against Tracktion for one reason or another? I'm not saying that everyone's best option will be Tracktion. But look at this:
Many complained about the "ugly" colors. Well, no more.
Many complained about "terrible" MIDI. Also, no more.
Many complained about low end plugs included. Judging from previous threads, this will be no more.
People complained about no external hardware support. One more problem solved.
Some even dare say that T wasn't intuitive enough for them. Well, some improvements have already been made to a wonderful environment.
My point is this. If you have been avoiding Tracktion because of the lack of something, and it's been added, what will your excuse be now? I don't say this to be cruel, I'm just curious.
From the small pics, and the pro level features that have been announced, Tracktion is about to enter it's prime, which may last a long time. Where do we go if this DOES really compete on a professional level for a non-professional price.
Sorry if some of this didn't make sense. It's late again. But I was just thinking........

I suspect that Tracktion will still have to fight for a user base at the same level it always has. Which is to say, it's gaining new users at a rapid pace (T isn't struggling for a user base! Doin' well already!) but will still have an almost equal amount of difficulty/ease getting "converts" from other apps.
We ("We?" heh, whoops) WILL see a few of those borderliners jumping over, but for the most part I think that people become set in their ways. If you're accustomed to an app's workflow, there's little incentive to switch over. New users climb on board because T is awesome (and getting exponentially better!). Converts climb on board because they're dissatisfied with their current app. But other users won't be "ripped away" from their apps just because of how cool T2 is. They'll probably start to give it a little more respect, but continue to work in the environments they're familiar with.
Now, it's a slow burn, and always has been... in a year, "Joe" may decide he wants to look for another option, having gotten tired of his app. Tracktion is there waiting for him, and this time, it's able to say, "come on over, Joe! We have external sync, now!"
So... let me revise my first paragraph's message a bit-- I think that we WILL see a growing user base, but it won't happen all at once.

Clearly general and not specifickoolkeys wrote:I'm just making some general observations of what's going on here. Koolkeys
Who said it's going to be a value? I've seen many people ready to fork it out just for the sake of an upgrade. That is stupid, sorry to say..........stupid.koolkeys wrote:First of all, it seems that those who have been negative about T2 have really had to eat their words. fluff, I find T easy on the eyes
I think the midi is pretty damn good actually. I never have problems....maybe some just don't really know how to use itkoolkeys wrote:Many complained about "terrible" MIDI. Also, no more.Koolkeys
Hun? Where? Besides, the plug are not bad at all and vst's work FLAWLESSLY for the most partkoolkeys wrote:Many complained about low end plugs included. Judging from previous threads, this will be no more.Koolkeys
Are you talking about midi learn? Yea, that should be a no brainer. Every piece of software has thatkoolkeys wrote:People complained about no external hardware support. One more problem solved. Koolkeys
then they should go somewhere else........f**k emkoolkeys wrote:Some even dare say that T wasn't intuitive enough for them. Well, some improvements have already been made to a wonderful environment.Koolkeys
Who's avoiding? I don't understand that at all....seems like there is more buzz about T than ever. Maybe I am misunderstanding youkoolkeys wrote:My point is this. What is PRO LEVEL? What has been anounced....64bit summing? who cares unless your ears can DEFINATLY hear it. WE'll see..........koolkeys wrote:From the small pics, and the pro level features that have been announced, Tracktion is about to enter it's prime, which may last a long time. Look, it's like this, just to make sure you know where SOME of the NEGATIVE stuff is comming from.koolkeys wrote:Sorry if some of this didn't make sense. It's late again. But I was just thinking........

Sigh.......
I don't care about MACKTION, I just care about TRACKTION. There were some simple things "to do" for the new release and even if they all come out.....there is still allot of fluff so far. I didn't get into T to get fluff and BLOAT ware, I wanted to get away from that.
Unless the price is right, and the update is somehting special (no.........not the OMG super pro.......just special) then T will have no real position.

An awfully defensive response to a reasonable post. It doesn't matter what YOUR experience was, kk was talking about the detractors.
-people DO complain about the MIDI. I have no issues with it either, but I only use it for simple stuff. Try going in-depth and you'll see that it's currently missing a multitude of features
-people DO complain about the colours, and some people have even used it as a deciding factor!
-all hosts have MIDI learn? News to me.
I mean, really... take the post for what it is and quit being so defensive.
NOW... one thing I agree with though you could have been a bit more diplomatic in your presentation-- we still have no facts about the price. We know that we will get a 'bargain' compared to first-time buyers, and we know that Jules never intended a super-expensive host; however, we still do NOT know what the price will be. For some people, it may seem like a bargain! Others might not. It will all depend, and there's only speculation right now.

It can all be summed up like this:
You just cannot please everybody...!
I like version 1 but version 2 seems to be shaping up nicely. People get so defensive. How's about remaining open to the possibility that it might be a decent upgrade?

And we don;t like to speculate, rightLunch Money wrote: NOW... one thing I agree with though you could have been a bit more diplomatic in your presentation-- we still have no facts about the price. The current $80 price is daft even at v.1.6, and gives the impression that Tracktion is bargain-basement for beginners. So the price is going up...
More than $200 would seriously alienate - not to mention outprice - the existing user-base, and compromise Tracktion's competitive edge over (for example) Cubase SL3 and Sonar 4 Studio version...
So my guess is:
Tracktion 2 new users: $149
Traction "NFR" upgrade: $129
T 1.6 registered user upgrade: $45
Boxed version (with manual and ?loop/sample CD) - add $60 to the above
Anyone else care to speculate?

only speculating of course

Dont see any reason for us NFR users to get anydiscount, to be honest...

Marketing ploy: people who are already interested enough to have unlocked the NFR get a good price, while new users, and magazine reviewers etc, all see a more "pro" price tag..whyterabbyt wrote:Dont see any reason for us NFR users to get anydiscount, to be honest...
Don't forget, the NFR version won't be available anymore when T2 is out, so a discount won't provide a sneaky cheap way in.. but it might generate goodwill among potential customers, and help to maintain the spirit of friendly camaraderie that we enjoy on these forums
