Since Receptor is at it's best when avoiding Program Changes and instead using Controller messages to enable/bypass plugins, I've been looking for a device to convert Program Changes to a series of Controller messages for configuring the Receptor mixer.
I've been able to use a Peavey PC1600 MIDI Fader Box along with my MIDI keyboard controller to do this. It has the ability to convert (map) an incoming Program Change to a series of Controller messages (scene). It also filters the Program Change so that the Receptor does not attempt to change MULTIs.
Now I can create keyboard zones mappings on my keyboard (I'm using an Alesis QS 7.1 solely as a MIDI keyboard controller, not as a sound source) and a matching Receptor mixer setup on the Peavey PC1600. Each time I change presets on the keyboard, I get a new keyboard zone map and the correct instruments are enabled/bypassed.
With this setup, synth changes appear to be instant because they are simply being enabled or bypassed.
Note that Receptor assigns CC 102 to bypass the channel strips. Not only is the channel bypassed to the audio path, but it does not consume any CPU usage.
Note also that the Peavey PC1600 can also be programmed to change Receptor volume, pan, etc. It can also be set up to edit plugin parameters.
Success using a Peavey PC1600(x) for Receptor control

This sounds very interesting. I wonder if there is a way to Mute tracks via CC? or is your method the same way? I can set up my EMU MP7 this way if i want. perhaps a listing on what cc messages for each one of your knobs would be cool ( if you have the time) I have 16 knobs to work with on my MP7

the Peavey PC1600 is completely programmable. So I can transmit any CC message on any of the 16 sliders and buttons. I can also send a string of CC messages with a single button or slider. I have it set up to send 16 bypass CC messages when it receives a Program Change. I could have it send anything in response to an incoming program change - notes, sysex, whatever.
