I was skimming through EQ magazine today and the first ad I came to was for Spike. Open the front cover, there it is. And low and behold, it advertises coming with T2, with screenshot and all!

Well, actually, it isn't a Spike ad, but just a Mackie ad, and it is adversiting T2 by itself and it says "New" by it. And on the computer monitors shown with the different products, it shows T2.

It's just speculation, but if they are advertising it, it must be close. It really looks like NAMM may be the place. We'll have to wait and see!

scan the screen- is it higher res than on the preview site?

I don't have a flatbed scanner, but I can tell you that they are similar screenshots to the one on the site. All audio, no MIDI. And there's something that looks like a volume meter, but it's not even. You can also see it on the website. It's different on every track. Could it be some kind of envelope filter? I'm not sure, but it sure does look kool.

I think the same ad is in the new Sound On Sound too.

Apart from the colours and the show/hide buttons I'm having a hard time spotting any differences.

I think 'volume meters' you're talking about koolkeys are just native Tracktion EQs displaying their curves...

Oh, I guess you're right. I don't use the built in EQ so I'm not used to seeing them.

But it would be kool to have an adsr envelope plugin. I don't know how that would work, but kool nonetheless.

All the talk and little bits popping up make it an exciting time to be a Tracktion user.

Why not? It's a great little 4 band parametric eq that usually is all I need on an individual track.

there's a big ol' thread somewhere where some dudes (Valley?) did some comparitive tests against Firium etc. and Ts EQ came out quite favourably. Not good enough for the pros I'm sure :D but perfectly serviceable for day to day tweaking.

I agree - they're just Tracktion's EQ.

The most striking thing to me is that the colour saturation looks much better, although this could be a DTP illusion in the ad.

And that it says "NEW" as opposed to "COMING SOON"...

I never ever ever use T's EQ. If I do use EQ, it'd be nyquist 5 EQ, or adobe audition's EQ when Im mixing/mastering down

i pretty much only use tracktion's own eq. it does the job for me :) sometimes i use the kjaerhus classic eq but that's the most subtle thing ever!
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

try, just TRY nyquist 5 EQ

Best parametric... ever

I messed around with T's EQ yesterday, and it is pretty nice. I've used it before, when I first got Tracktion, but at the time I didn't use alot of EQ because most of my work was just piano and vocals for church productions, and there wasn't alot needed. Then for some reason I started using other options.

And I've heard good things about Nyquist, but it's not necessarily the BEST parametric EVER. Of course it's a preference thing. Different strokes for different folks, ya know.

Anyway, all this news just gets me more curious. We'll just have to patiently wait and see!

Best freeware maybe

I use the Kjaerhus Golden EQ, which is simply stunning and well worth the money...

I've also demoed the Voxengo Gliss EQ which is also exceptional, but the Kjaerhus Golden bundle group buy won the fight, because CPU was better, it has a more analogue sound, and I wanted the other fx in the bundle.

The EQs in Audition are also great.

This is not the most interesting observation ever, but the Mackie ad with T2 is in this month's Sound On Sound too. There are about three different screen grabs dotted around the page.
