Renaming a project?

I quite often start projects with names like "crap" or "junk" while I'm experimenting with things. Then every so often, something good comes of it and I want to save it with a more useful name. Since there doesn't seem to be a "save project as" type function in Tracktion, how can I do this? Can I just rename the project file or will that upset it?

Thanks,
G.

Yeah i've noticed on my setup that you can change the name of the project inside T and it doesn't care about that (Cool) but the name of the file doesn't get changed on the HD.

I did that once: rename a project in the project namebox, press enter and pooof, project gone never to be seen again :(
Actualy, I was able to import the project again, but it was empty so basically unuseable... :(
Needless to say, I don't do that anymore.

The best way I have found to do it is this;

With Tracktion closed;

Use windows explorer and go to the Tracktion folder, then the projects folder and then to the folder that contains the project that you want to rename. (I hope you are using a new folder for each project).

Rename the project folder.

Now open the project folder and rename the Trk file.

Now, open Tracktion, close the old project. (remove it from the active list)

Now click on "Open Project" and navigate to the renamed project folder to open it.

The project should open with it's new name.

Thanks PT, I'm not using per-project folders, but I guess I should.

Hopefully project renaming will be one of those unlisted enhancements in T2.

Well I imagine you could go into windows explorer and make a project folder and put everything from the project into it. If you can find everything.

It really makes a difference.

You really MUST switch to using a new folder for each project. I insist! :D :D If you don't comply, I will send... er... PT!... PT down there with a... umm... carrot-shaped plush toy... and he'll beat you about the head with it until you see the light. :D

Poor, poor Ron.

You know... now that I'm accustomed to his finding the grey in every cloud, I'm beginning to quite like Ron. ;) Hope he doesn't make me eat those words....

Also, I listened to a few of his songs, and they're phenomenal. Respecting someone artistically helps me to respect them in other ways. :D
