Tracktion, Windows or sfz?

When I first turn on the comp and then load Tracktion I can load a edit that uses sfz ok.
If I load another edit first then try to load the edit with sfz it says I've 'not enough memory to load the selected soundfont'
This seems to be to do with clearing RAM between loading edits.
Question: Is this because windows is not handling memory management correctly or is it Tracktion not freeing RAM between edits or is it somehow sfz not clearing its buffer (or something).
If its to do with T is it a known issue? and if so is there a fix in T2?

you could try a memory defragger like FreeRAM XP (I think that was the on I used)
Try reclaiming memory after loading the first edit and see how much is recovered.
Could give you a clue as to what's at fault.

I use powerstrip which has a memory defragger built in. It works to unload memory for sfz. I've got Win98SE by the way.
Make sure to use the right mode with sfz to use the least memory necessary. eg, if you are only using one patch from a bank, use the PR mode to save RAM.
Read the FAQ at rgc and it talks about it somewhat.
http://www.rgcaudio.com/sfzfaq.htm
When I get the error, I hop over to the powerstrip app, clear out RAM, and the sf loads error free.
HOWEVER,
Other presets that are loaded like for Final Mix, seem to disappear as a result.
So.....
I run powerstrip first before loading T, then all is happy and good.

Allways use the DFD setting. Then the sfz reads the SF Direct From Disc uses a lot less mem. And you can still
use a high quality setting.
I use the FluidR3 sometimes (148 MB).
My specs:
AMD 2500+ at 2250 MHz
512 MB 2700 DDR
Nforce 2 Soundforce with
ASIO 3-5 ms latency 48 Khz 16bit
use a high quality setting.

This is a bug.
I have 2 Gig of RAM and I only use maybe 1/2 Gig yet SFZ reports "you are out of RAM"

Andrew,
Read the FAQ - if you use sfz without the PR mode or DFD mode, it can require significantly MORE ram than what the actual sf size is. I'm not sure why, but it's in the sfz FAQ.
