importing stereo wave files

OK, a real Tracktion newb here. Here is a simple question to get me started:

I have CDs of stereo drum clips, which I want to import into my Tracktion project. When I import them, I see they go into a single track--are they being converted to mono? If so, how can I import the left/right channels into their own tracks, so I can pan them left and right?

When I was using Deck  it split them automatically.

(d'oh, sorry, I meant to put this in the newbie forum)

copy the track so u have two of them lined up then click on each, as u click on one in the propertis pannal at the botom u will see a option "active channels", turn off left on one & right in the other

EDIT: this may be rong read the post below

If they are stereo .wavs to begin with, they should import properly as stereo .wavs.

BetabugsAudio has a new plug coming out that will make treating a stereo .wav as 2 mono wavs a snap. ;)

Another way is to do what djsubject says (copy them to 2 separate tracks) but then use the patch-bay filter so that in one, the left channel is sent to both L/R (and the right is sent nowhere) and in the other, use the patch-bay to do the opposite.

I think ther's a basic misunderstanding here: if they are stereo files to start with tracktion won't convert them to mono.. tracks are happy to have stereo or mono clips on them, or both: If you just want them to stay stereo, there is no need to do anything. :)

I'm sure glad Tracktion DOESNT automatically split stereo files. Thats silly nowadays. Tracktion treats waves the same stereo or mono.
