I am stil pretty new at Tracktion. But, as my projects grow, I cant help but notice how great folders would fit into the Tracktion paradigm.
They would serve as group busses, and send/insert FX routing, Reduce clutter, and solve any missing "mixer" components.
I hope they add them to T2.

I agree. I think this is something that would be invaluable. And if not in T2, then maybe a consideration for T2.1 or so. My vote is in for this(even though there's not a poll!)

You got my vote too! Most of my projects strongly need folder tracks! Its a mess without!! Ive been hoping for this moore then a year! Shouldnt this be an eazy task to include, in a later update Beno?

I never really understood what folder tracks were for. Can some one please explain to me what function they serve. The best I understand it, folders are merely a visual organinzation thing and don't really add true effect grouping.
It would be cool if each track in a folder had their own effects and on top of that the folder could act as a group and have it's own post-track group effects.
Oh yeah and don't forget to Fockerize them too!

Well Soma, the way I see it is....
You take all your, lets say drums tracks, and stick them in a folder track. Now when the folder is closed you only see one track. This track can have filters on the end of it just like a regular track. This way you could put a reverb (or whatever) on to the folder track, therby makeing it a "group" insert. Or you could use senderella to send it to another track with "insert FX here" , making it an group send.
Besides from that you can then mix, ans automate, all your "drum" tracks with one volume filter "group fader".
It really allows for ALL of the functionality of a mixer and then some. Plus its much, much, eaiser to manage than a mixer. It also really lets you organize your workspace.

well you can already accomplish that Todd, by adding a new track, selecting a group of tracks and setting them to output to the new track (instead of default audio output).
Folder tracks, on the other hand, would make this much easier and make more "visual sense" for just about everyone.

Yes, I really would like to have them, too.
Another use would be for storing several 'takes' and then having them all 'stored' for future use (ie. compiling a new take from them.)
You record something in 'loop' mode. Each time it gets to the beginning of the loop, it adds a new track to the active folder. You could end up with dozens of tracks, but then later you can sort through them. Solo individual tracks within the context of the rest of the mix, delete ones you know you don't want to keep, and then decide if you want to use the remaining ones to "compile" a new take. Make a new track, make your cuts in the appropriate spots, shift+drag them into place in the new track, crossfade a bit, and BLAMMO!
Then, you can just mute out all but the new "compiled" track and close the folder.
Meanwhile, all the effects for that folder remain the same, so there's overal consistency for auditioning. Not like now where you have to shift+drag tracks back and forth from make-shift "storage" areas while you do it, creating a bunch of clutter while you're at it.
At the end of the day, they don't provide any new functionality, which is why I'm not all that pissed that they're not included; however, I think they fit the Tracktion mentality, and I think they'd make several jobs more efficient.

For middleish to large projects screen management is a must.
Not only would folder tracks tity up subgrouped tracks into a visual hirearchy, but you'd be able to put all AUX send racks into an invisable group or put a bunch of muted MIDI tracks that have been track rendered into a convenient hiding place.
Plus more stuff that I can't think of now..

You have to solo every track in the group.
