The one thing I seem to continuously have the need to go to Live 4 to do (which BTW often leaves me there to finish projects started)and wish T2 will also do is actual "Overdub" recording...

I use BFD and while it contains many nice midi loops, I find it never really exactly fits the song I am working on so I program my own drum parts using a keyboard controller. In Live I can loop a 4 bar part (or any length for that matter) and on the first pass enter the bass drum and snare, follow up the second time through with hi hat and cymbals etc...is T2's stated "midid loop recording" like this? Or does it, as I seem to read it, only overlay multiple takes on top of one another? IOW Live actually works like an outboard drum machine in the way it lets you "build" the drum loops...really nice feature. The only other advantage Live has is the way it let's you "record what you hear" into the Arrangement view from the session view...I know I can do this in Tracktion with third party tools (tape it) but it would be nice if it was built in and worked more similiarly to Live. Additionally using tape it or similiar, you have to re-import the track etc...a few extra steps....

still love my T ...Live is such a CPU hog...

AFAIK tracktion 2 WILL add notes into existing MIDI clips when in loop record mode and NOT replace the entire clip on each pass ...

... thats how loop record usually works isnt it ???

You can already do this in T1 (I just fired it up & checked)

Just make sure your MIDI input "action" field reads "merge newly recorded MIDI into existing clips".

WOW..and all this time I thought I had to leave the BIG T...lol..a case of RTFM?

Now, anyone want to buy a slightly used copy of Live 4?

Thanks for the quick reply platinumears.. :)

No thanks. Fun toy, but not for me. ;) I'll stick to T.
