Stuttering at edits

Hi,
I have bout 13 tracks of audio, three of which are stereo. Set in and out markers. Split all tracks at the in and out mark points, a length of 2 bars. Select all regions after the out marker edit. Move regions by two bars. Select all regions (edited) between the in and out markers. Select the loop x2 option (13 times).
How do I do this faster. Essentially insert a 2 bar gap, repeat the previous two bars in the gap.
Now, as playback approaches the edit, audio starts to stutter. Dropouts. Carries on into the edit for a while and then smoothens out. I tried different buffer settings, bt seriously, this was hardly an edit.
I tend to think that my hard disk is having issues. But the very same edit at an equally lower latency plays perfect on SL.
thanks a ton.

Thanks

odd...
so to get this straight:
the drop-outs are always at the same point in the edit?
there is only audio clips playing? no time stretching or anything?
Any effects in use?

Yes. within the same range, the dropouts might occur at different areas. But alwas within the range of a few bars of the edit. no time streching, no plugins. nothing. Just raw audio files i recorded in SX, imported it into Tracktion, and started editing an interlude that needed to repeat itself.valley wrote:odd...

Heres what I did. I muted all tracks. And started unmuting them one at a time. Plays fine till i unmute the 10th track. I get a midl stutter. Unmute the 11th track, and the stutter increases.

i get this same problem too. i have no explanation for it, other than Tracktion is having a hard time with the ol' hard drives.
i don't get it tho, because my HD isn't particularly incapable...

does it still occur if instead of looping the 2 bars you select them as a block and ctrl-click-drag copy them in to the gap ???

well with me it seems to get into the flow of things once the clips are playing, but if the head is getting near a clip edge, it starts to struggle, like it's having a hard time preparing itself for a jump to a new piece of audio. i get that (!) appear by the cpu meter.
oddly enough rob, it's most prominent on a remix i've been doing of one of your tracks [veer:align]! figures your songs are making my life difficult
