so i'm no where near a tracktion guru but i think with the export as archive function it would be pretty easy to collaborate with other tracktion users over the wire.
anyone doing this? anyone interested? if you're doing it, how do you manage the files and where do you store them?
i'm interested in trying something like this out...

Hey there,
I'm currently puting a skeleton of a track together for a collab actually with another Tracktion user. It should be done soon.
But yeah...first time I've tried anything like this, although I've done collabs and remixes with other sequencer packages. I really enjoy doing it and would definitely like to do it a lot more. I love the idea of bouncing ideas around and letting the sounds evolve.
Would love to get involved in remixes, collabs and special compilations too...but I don't see too much talk of that around here surprisingly.

I am very interested in this. I am currently away from my bandmates and this is a feature I'm hoping to use more often. This feature coupled with yousendit.com would be really fantastic.
edit: silly question, but how does it handle Vst's? or does it render all tracks with the third party vst's first?

i do it all the time but i can host the big files, or send via msn messenger or somthing like that
aslong as you all only use plugins that you all own then its all fine & dandy
edit: if plugins are different then just renda the trak as i'm shure you all know, but i leave the midi in aswell & just remove the vst\vsti's

Doesn't the archival function convert any audio to ogg files anyway? If so, the resulting file wouldn't be huge.

I'd be interested if it would remotely suit my usual style. I'm not gonna try to describe it, but if anyone comes up with a project i'll see if i'd be able to cooperate...
I'd love to do it anyway, and finally get to know some of you a bit better... (and vice versa)

I just needed a couple of guitar tracks so I sent a good mp3 of the backtrack and was sent back just the guitar tracks in traction compressed format over email, no probs....

I think it helps people break out their usual way of working. I'd be willing to try my hand at pretty much anything...

I'm interested, although my contribution would mostly involve guitar parts and maybe a bit of synth.
Seems it would work best if only free VST/VSTi's were used (and there's plenty of those to do something decent).
I've also got Gmail invites if anyone needs...

I don't think i agree entirely on the 'only free plugs' part- why not just render it to audio and if there's a general disagreement the original author can just edit his part (and as suggested, you can send the midi parts along)...
Three reasons i say this: some stuff just can't be done with free plugs (thinking reaktor), plus there's not so much freeware for mac. Also, audio editing allows a whole different range of possibilities...
Idea for a project: we tell a story with music. I'm doing something similar right now and it's great fun. So maybe someone could write a small script (or we write a small part each and pass it on to complete), and then we tell the story in music.
Anyone here like?
