Is this a MIDI note on/off problem?

I discovered this playing with DK+ drum sampler.

I have a Kawai K1 acting as a controller hooked up to a
Tascam US122.

In order to hear the full decay of let's say a crash cymbal, I have to hold down the key till the sample plays out. If I let go of the key the note stops, yet if I were to click on the vitual pad on the DK+ with my mouse I get the full sample.

This had me totally puzzled untill I looked down at the US122. It has a MIDI IN light that flashes when I press a key and again when I lift my finger off. So I figured that meant MIDI note on and off.

I have a Yamaha DD55 drum pad. When I hook that up to the US122 the MIDI IN light stays continuously lit.
All of a sudden it made sense. The Yamaha must not transmit MIDI Off information. I looked in the back of the DD55 and sure enough it was listed as having no values on velocity note off.

This leads to my question, how do I disable MIDI note off on my controller? Is there a way to tell Tracktion to ignore MIDI note off?
It's hard to play drums in real time on my Kawai if I have to hold down the keys after each cymbal hit.

Any help you guys can give would be great.

it would be more normal to set this up on the sampler: I would be suprised if it did not have a "one shot" option (even Tracktion's sampler does!)

Ahh I see, so it's called ignore release.
Ok, I'll ask Luigi if DK+ has something along those lines.
Thanks for pointing that out platinumears.
