The massive disspointment thread seems a bit too pessimestic... heres a level ground.

Been with T2 for bout 15 minutes...

What i like :

Love the inout feeds display.

The Video player. GREAT !

SOLO working.

AUX sends and returns (could be accomplished with senderella though)

Midi control! (very vital)
Midi Editor....

Shit loads more yet to be dicovered :D

Dilikes :

Hated the default color scheme! (but then thats OK,Skinnable!)

Waveforms messy (usually color defined tracks are easier to work with)

Only QT suport! And this does not seem to import sound from movie

BRING IT ON!!!!!!

My first impression is that i am very dissapointed, it wasnt what i hoped for i am sorry to say.

I think the 1.6 userinterface had numerable flaws (even due there are workarounds) and tracktion 2 doesnt do anything about them, its obvious to me that mackie hasnt hired anyone who have studied user interfaces and cognition to work with this. I think a person with this knowledge could make a big difference (me for example =).
I really thought most of this would be fixed for tracktion 2.

Well other than that its just like tracktion 1 with a slightly improved midi editor, a better key commands dialouge and some new color schemes.

sound from movie is there - control click for mac (is that right click on windows?) on the QT window an uncheck the "mute movie audio". AVI is flaky (can contain who knows what) - QT is standard in the TV/Movies biz so seems like the right choice imho.

Of course it doesn't matter at all but I agree about the color scheme -IT1 was so easy on the eyes. I was so happy to find the original scheme preset... likewise the splash page - keep it flat Jules!

Shameless!

I find the user interface second to none.

it is THE thing that brought me to the program.

can you give an example vkse?

Yes, the thing is that what you see as flaws that weren't addressed, many of us see as benefits that we are glad Jules kept his mitts off. ;)

I am quite pleased with T2

Important for me:

Timecode to be able to sync my keyboards arpeggiator to tempo
Quicktime support for playing video
Midi controller mapping

I like:
audio loop recording
step recording
improved midi editing
new filters
per track assignments
improved mute/solo
and more

I would like:
aftertouch support
midi loop recording (that works like audio)
more improvements to midi editing
folder tracks
built-in panner

T2 is solid - It does the things I needed (most importantly video ) that kept me away from using it as my main software. I'll be buying T2 (today if they let me) and using it for my audio work. I, like others have expressed on the forum, find it easier to make music, which is the most important feature of all.

The thing about the waves being messy... just color them a shade of dark grey... beautifull... Now i have it drawing better than T1!!!!

Loop recording.. kikking ass...

That noise is irritating me !!!!

QT audio is now kool!

Dont like the splash page.. :(

Very important for Me... The automation line editing works good now! With T1 i have the problem of getting the edit points to move,, they take a second and then jump!

whn is it going on sale... i need to start saving! Poor man..

:D

My first impression of T2=

OMG ITS THE FUK*I*G BO*L*X :)

Now i need nothing more! Execpt maby my audio editor :D

i was having quicktime problems - i couldn't get qt audio to play even if i had deselected the mute qt audio option.

i managed to solve it tho (i'm on pc) - in control panel QuickTime has a configuration utility, and there is a SoundOut setting. this lets you choose the output device for quicktime, and mine was set by default to windows' preferred direct sound device. i changed this to my standard WaveOut outputs, and when i restarted T2 everything worked fine. that's handy to know too if you have multiple outputs as you can route the QT audio elsewhere.

sorry if this info is already well known!
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.
