Midi Controller Mappings

The new midi controller mapping is a valuable new feature, but it could use a way to set min/max values.

For example, I have set up a knob on the controller to control panning on a track. I would like to set up the same knob to invert the panning on another track. Turn the knob and one track pans left, the other right.

I can see often wanting to have a single knob control two or more parameters and then it is a necessity to be able to control the range of adjustment for those parameters. Without that, it is limited to a single parameter to a single knob or slider which greatly limits its usefulness while playing.

I can guarantee that at least one person has requested that feature already!

Not surprised

Finding that took the lustre off that particular feature for me. Still useful, but...

Depends what you're doing: if you want to mix with real knobs and faders, the current arrangement works fine.. your suggestion (I'll call it that even though I suggested it first ;)) would add the same functionality as the "morph" feature in my Nord Modular, and would seriously rock big-time!

Hey, I'm sure it will arrive: its got to be easier to add than time-stretch.. :hihi:

hey, it can be your idea, as long as it gets in there. There could be two little buttons next to the controller field on the window. Set your min, click one, set max, click the second...

time stretch? Haven't heard anyone mention that one yet...

I think that Audiomulch has this kind of feature implemented perfectly. There you have an X-Y graph for each controller mapping, with one axis representing midi CC input and the other axis representing the output. A straight diagonal line in the graph gives you the usual behaviour, but you can also move the endpoints of the line and add breakpoints, thus making it simple to map the midi controller in any complex way you can think of.

I guess what i'm saying is: if something like this is ever implemented in Tracktion, Jules, please have a look at the way Audiomulch does it.
