T2, PDC, and aux send/return

Hi,

Before this thread descends into the usual crap, or, in hope that it won't, I will state at the outset that I am very happy with most of T2 and look forward to paying for the upgrade (video, ext. sync, couple of nice compressors, the list goes on a bit :D ).

Now, to the problem. I hope that I am sorely mistaken, and that a beta-tester, or someone can correct my error, but it seems that PDC does not work when using send/returns????????

I was a little dissapointed that it still doesn't work when looming within racks, but am completely suprised that it doesn't work with send/returns. In fact, it seems so basic and fundamental that I must be doing something wrong and hope someone can come and correct me.... :help:

Does PDC work with sends/returns, or not?

It works for me!! sometimes i need to hit F2 then F3 to get it all to sink properly, but that might be becouse i'm running a powercore & a uad-1

but if your stuf is not in sink then try going to the settings page "F2" then go back to the project "F3"

this allways works for me

I don't believe pdc works with aux sends - I think thet are just like racks.

What is pdc?

plugin delay compansaition (how ever you flipin spell it)

I might add a quick explanation, please correct if I'm wrong. Some plugins require an internal buffer to do their calculations (SIR is a good example), and this cause a delay between input and output on the plugin itself. If the plugin report the size of the buffer and the host is pdc enabled, the host can then delay all other track by the reported amount to keep everything in synch.
Where it get awfully complicated is when you use a send to send part of a track output to another track that has a delay causing plugin on it's path, or worse, when a multiple of tracks are sending part of their signal to different track with differnt delay on them. I wouldn't want to be the one that has to do the math for this kind of situation.

one betatester (valley) says pdc doesn't work with sends, one betatester (djsubject) says it does, but with a workaround which I am not sure should be classified 'bug' or 'feature'. Anyways, I tried your suggestion, djsubject, of toggling the screen...I lost all audio and had to reboot T2.

BTW valley, what do you mean they don't work because they are like racks? You know that PDC works using racks in T1, just not when looming *inside* racks. Sorry, just a bit confused there, no attack intended or anything, just interested because you know the program well (so do I [T1], but...).

Who outed me? :box:

sorry if i wasent cleare!! i have never had a delay problem with the new T2 sends!! (& i tested them!!)

but with the racks sometimes i have to reset the audio drivers eg; F2 F3 to get it to sink

i think this is more my setup & sound card becouse i was alone with this problem

& i would allways listen to vally over me

all the best

you outed yourself, there is a colour scheme with your name on it!! :)

Anyway, I haven't even tested the racks in T2, but I use them alot in T1 and know the good and bad points well... but I just can't use sends/returns in T2 without delay not being compensated for. djsubject, seeing as you say you have no problem in this regard, could you set up an edit with a plug-in that requires PDC as a send, that works on your system with no delay, so I can try it out on mine??

if you tell me of a free plugin that you are using i will test & send the edit but this works with my uad-1

P.S. the scheme was only suposed to say "ski rize studios" so it was beno that outed me :D

i'm off out but you can pm or email the info on the vst plugin & i will try as soon as i get back, send me your email & ill send the edit back to you

I wasn't sure if theu had squeezed a fix in at the last possible moment - I've been snowed under with work so I haven't used the last build of Tracktion much.

My understanding was though that this is a priority fix that hasn't yet been implemented.
