Much needed feature for Tracktion, IMHO

First I want to say that Tracktion is a great program. I'm amazed at the fact that this is one developers work! Wow! Thanks for all the work! It also amazes me at all the bitching that people do in here. Especially about it missing a deadline. Sheesh! The demo announcement didn't even make the KVR headlines and you'd think it was the "Second Coming" by the way people carry on in here. Anyhow, I'll buy the new version just to help support the developer.

The only thing I want added to Tracktion is the ability to route one track to another as an input.

Again, thanks for the great program, Jules. :D

is it maybe possible, using racks? im no expert. just a thought.

... in what sense exactly? Do you mean as a MIDI input, controling the VSTi from one track via MIDI sequences on others?

If you have your instrument on Track 1 and you want to route Track 2 to Track 1, then select Track 2, in the main context area (bottom, centre) select the track you want to route to.

I suppose you could also route audio from one track to another using a 100% wet Send on the end of the track and put a Return at the beginning of another track.

& if you ment audio out the pc & back in to tracktion then its down to yr sound card

Post

Yeah, most soundcards allow you to do that.. what are you using?

You can rout one track to another - but then you have to put an empty "dummy" midi clip on the receiving track and render it to "record" the audio.

I agree - it is an oversight, especially important as there are a number of ways to bring audio from outside T into filters but no way to record them. Lets hope we get it in T2.1 !

Yes, I've tried that. When you click on record it says no active input is selected. It could be VERY VERY simple. Just make a new filter that allows to send the output to another track OR have a input pop up on the left side of the track without rendering it. It would help us guys that don't have killer computers. I do it all the time in Live to save resources. I'd love to just work in Tracktion, though. If you've used Live, you know exactly what I'm after. Being able to send to another track and save as clips is great, IMHO. I know it can be done via software and not hardware. Live does it and so does PT.

Thanks for your time. :)

Sounds like it wasn't configured properly: my M-Audio card has an extra ASIO input pair, which represent the outputs of its internal "monitor mixer": recording these inputs records any signals that are enabled in the card's mixer, which can include any of the card's ASIO outs.. what card are you using?

Sorry for the ignorance, but how do you use this to save resources?

tell us what soundcard you have! if you have a delta model i can explain exactly how. if someone else has your card they could offer solutions.
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.
