Help me keep CPU use down when using ns_kit

OK, I like ns_kit (well, it is free after all!) but am stuck using a weak machine (1.2G CPU, 512MB Ram) and often get distortion/CPU redline when using sfz and ns_kit. I think I am using the soundfont version of ns_kit - is there a less CPU intensive way of using it (eg the wavs loaded in to the sequencer) ?
I can stop the stuttering/CPU redline if I increase the latency significantly but am trying to get the best performance I can out of my system.
Thanks
Tim

look for another sound font player!!
maby spend a bit on a s/w sampler that can load sf2 files
or export your loops & mute the sf2 player
also importing just the waves in to the mix will use about 0% cpu
& for me if i increase my buffer i get more cpu

Any suggestions ? The attraction of sfz was its pricedjsubject wrote:look for another sound font player!!
I'm pretty new at recording and have leaned toward midi/samples for drums rather than loops or placing samples - is this always going to be more CPU intensive ?
thanks

What quality setting do you have sfz set to? Check you are using the lowest "draft" quality, at least until you render.. You may also want to try freezing (or rendering) other parts of the edit while working on the drums.
If you have any sort of budget, you could also consider using the BS1 / BS16 "Bismark" plugs (check the quick links, top right) which I have found to be extrememly cpu-light. (It looks like BS1 is going to be bundled with T2 btw: you should be aware of that when considereing the purchase!)
