Help with NRPN/automation

I was thrilled to see T2 support NRPN along with midi cc automation, but when I try to map my StudioMix (which only uses NRPN) I can only use the faders, all other controls are on/off, not incremental. None of the pan controls will function correctly because of this. There are no transport settings available in the automation mapping setup either, so I don;t see how you could do that anyway. And the faders aren't receiving midi back from T2, they are motorized but don't function as such with T2.

I usually use MidiYoke and StudioMixMap to get this controller to work in Live, but since T2 supports NRPN it doesn't allow me to send midi, it confuses the two streams (I guess) and just acts weird.

Any idea how to get it recognized as a control surface along with Mackie products? That would be really nice.

OK, this is a major bummer. It looks like you get no transport controls to map, no solo/mute, it supports NRPN but just barely, you get no preferences for the controller data (absolute, relative etc).

Now I'm truly disappointed. Can you only get decent control surface support if you buy a Mackie mixer? I can understand the marketing rationale, but it sure limits your choices. Ouch.

Someone please tell me I'm missing something here. :(

OK, I figured it out: I had to disable automation read mode, I expected the real-time controller to override the automation. Actually, lack of automation since I didn't record any, but I guess really it is just set to defaults and is still 'automation' regardless.

I'm still bummed you can't map more stuff within the midi controller mappings setup, but at least I can do the basic mixing and T's easy enough to navigate without transport controls. I'll have to find some useful purpose for the big transport knob.

The motorized faders still don't function. That's not that big of a deal really.

Transport controls probably use MMC (MIDI machine control) make sure you have the correct MIDI input set up (Timecode menu IIRC: I'm at work atm.)

Thanks, I'll try that. But incidentally, I'm pretty much over the transport controls. It's probably faster/more flexible just to use the mouse and keyboard.
