Hi there,

I'm a relative newbie (as this question will probably show!). I've realised that all the unwanted takes of audio get stored and also something gets stored in the cache. Is there an easy way of automatically managing all the unwanted stuff or do I need to get more organised with my housekeeping after every session and delete the unwanted takes? I realise I can manage this from the projects page but after a couple of hours the amount of rubbish takes can mount up a bit meaning there's quite a lot of housekeeping to do before I pack up for the day.

Any tips appreciated

cheers

John

the 'find orphan clips' button on the projects page is your friend ... run this and then dump all the unused clips it lists ...

... as long as youre sure of course ...

to cutdown the audioclips to what is really used, you must export the edit on the projectpage. just select the edit you want to export end choose "export edit". all the audiorecordings will be truncated (only in the exported version) to what you have used of them in the chosen edit.

Oh, how convenient.

Thanks :)

Another tip:

AS you're recording, if you've recorded a clip that you know for sure is crap. (ie. an accidentally recorded one, or a truly horrific god-awful one that you wish never existed) just select it and press CTRL+M which will not only delete the clip from the edit, but also from the hard drive.

I find it very convenient as a management tool so that my pruning 'after the fact' is less tedious.

If you realise your take is awful while still recording, use the "abort" or "abort and restart" buttons under the transport..

Thanks everyone, all excellent tips
