i'd just like to know say if i set traktion to 24 bit 48kKhz and import a 16 bit wav file will this get converted and bumped upto 24 bit in traktion?
if not... then if i only use 16 bit wav's is there any point in setting traktion to 24 bit leaving recording external beside will it have any effect on automation levels and vst's?

:hyper: :harp:

They'll work fine, doing a transparent non-destructive 'conversion'.

well that's what i'm wondering does tracktion convert at all or does it just rip the audio outs to 24 bit?

Actually... I don't even know how you COULD globally set a project for 24-bit. Each clip can use whatever resolution, though. With the same input, you can record 16-bit then switch to 24-bit, without blinking.

The project is always 'mixing' at 32-bit anyhow, unless you select it to mix in 64-bit.

Tracktion will just convert 'on the fly' but not offline. Your original file won't just be 'converted' permanently, if that's what you're asking.

Sometimes when I`m working on a 24 bit 48Khz project and importing a 16 bit 44.1Khz, what happens is that the whole song sounds slowler and lower pitch.

Same thing when playing a commercial song with media player while Tracktion is opened...

Reopening the project and it`s fine again...

People keep talking about a "24-bit 48kHz" or "16-bit 44.1kHz" project, but I'll be damned if I can find a spot to set a project to those settings.
