Unfreezing tracks

this is strange...

Freezing a number of tracks going to a group (say 7 drums tracks going to a drum sub) requires you to freeze the group track.

I presume this would free up all resources used up by the 7 individual tracks.

Freezing a single track going to the defualt audio outputs requires you to freeze that track only.. example main vocal track.

Now, while unfreezing the vocal track will take significant time, undfreezing the group track (where the drums are bussed) is instantaneous.

what am i missing ?
