Just curious : will we be able to buy a downloadable version of traktion 2 on line. I live in reunion island :P (france, indian ocean) where softwares are generally surtaxed due to costs carriage.

Thanks

We don't know just yet. ;) The literature SEEMS to indicate boxed-version only, but nothing's confirmed.

And the 'Unlock' in the software itself seems to indicate it will be possible.

you might still need to unlock the boxed version too though ...

To me, the text that's currently there seems more like an oversight. But regardless, of course you'd still need to unlock the boxed version, as pHz indicates. At least 90% of my software requires a serial number and license key, usually manually entered. Tracktion's using a keyfile instead of a manually entered set of digits doesn't change the fact that it's really the same thing.

OK, I'll take you "you might still need to unlock the boxed version too though..." and raise you a "buy a license" button :D

We were probably posting at the same time, but as I mentioned, it seems more like an oversight to me.

However, as originally stated (and I don't know how this could have possibly turned into a debate...?!?!?!) nobody knows.

erm ... because - as you publicly stated a number of times - you like a good old pointless debate ?!?

Ah, but I'm the one who made the initial statement, which was enough of an answer for the poser of the question and needn't really be explored further. ;)

I said I like debate, not that it has to be pointless.

i think the copyprotection will be something different in the release version for some reasons.

What reasons?

seems like it's too easy to crack.

<shrug>

There's not a copy protection around that can't be cracked (though dongles seem to have deterred some people, no?) so I don't see the point of excessive copy protection.

Someone once explained to me that the main thing is to make it just tricky enough that a typical user can't just offhandedly run off copies for his mates. Beyond that, you're fighting a losing battle with the pirates, so you're better off trusting your product.

I agree with that.

Beno's mentioned that the copy protection will stay the same.
