Hey, just wondering what a good method to do retrigger on snares in tracktion? Like dtdtdtdtdt DIT

you know like modulr does his crazy news

or can this be solved with dr008?

The traditional way would be to paint in MIDI notes, assuming you're triggering a sample.. T2's line tool makes this easy, and is also a good way to ramp up the velocities through the roll (if that's what you want)

If your snare sound is a clip on a track, you could use Tracktion's looping function to create a roll: the size you trim the clip to will determine the speed of the roll, and if you trim it with snap enabled it should stay in time.. the fade-in/out handles can come in useful at this point.. ;)

Ah but with the loop method you cutt each sample. It sounds more like a machine gun. the sample way (with polyphony) will overlap the sounds. Also try doing tripplets for the roll. Varying the drum hits too will help so instead of using the same hit over and over use a right hand sample and a left hand sample because when the hits get that close together a drummer usually uses both hands.

manually chop and paste the hits. Slightly repitch them, and set the pan a bit to opposing sides... utilize low volumes here and there, use the clip envelopes to simulate attack and release changes... this can all be subtle as hell, but it works... i think :nutter:
