Anyone know if T2 full version will be available for direct download and, if so, how soon?

Thanks much!

Yes, full details are available on the mackie site, here:

Alternatively, i think someone might have asked this before, you could try doing a search on the forum, see if you get any hits?

First, welcome to KVR.

Second, we don't know the exact release date, or the upgrade price or if the boxed version will be the only version available.

We do know it will eventually be available, there will be a price for it and it will probably be delivered in one form or another :hihi: .

I'm not sure, seeing it's Frippertronix second post here at KVR, that he will get the joke.

Sorry Frippertronix, my post was supposed to be a joke. I didn't notice your post count before, or i'd have been a bit less obscure.

It's unlikely the entire boxed version will be downloadable, as amongst other things, the bundled plugins are by various manufacturers, and taken as a group, it's going to be a few hundred meg in size. It's doubtful mackie are keen to pay for the bandwidth required for every tracktion user to download several hundred megs of data, and if you've ever used mackie's file servers, you probably don't want to download large files from them either. Not if you're in a hurry, that is :D

My guess, and it's only a guess, is that you'll be able to buy and authorise Tracktion online, and download a keyfile as per Tracktion 1, but you'll have to order the plugin bundle on cd, for postal delivery.

But it's just a guess ....

Thanks for the welcome.

Actually, I may know a bit more than that already.

Someone at Mackie tech support told me the full download would be on Mackie's site in May, concurrent with shipping it to retailers in the box.
I didn't think to ask him for a date, plus, you always hear the most optimistic forecast from the company people, so I was wondering if there was any inside info floating around.

Sorry to put you through Groundhog Day again, again. :hihi:

Next time we'll do Stripes, eh? 8)

I'd also like to add, in my best Billy Murray voice (pretend I just stepped off a military transport plane holding a martini) that forum searches are sometimes pretty fruitful and other times not.

I tried four variations of searches for "Tracktion 2 release," "Tracktion 2 availability," etc., and came up with lots of threads having nothing to do with my question and, though I didn't wade through all 11 pages of them :P, I got a bit frustrated in the process.

Admittedly, hearing the same question many times gets old for the forum regulars, but searches are not always very successful so sometimes people just ask what they need to know directly, even if its been asked before.

Well, you could try the 4 page thread on the first page of the forum called "T2 international pricing" or the 2 page one called "Guess the release date", or you could hang around for twenty minutes and someone's sure to post asking ... but i take your point

Anyhow, i'm not buying that the full plugin bundled version of T2 is going to be available for download in May, or any other month of the year. For one thing, it comes with Linplug's RMIV, and we have it on decent authority it's the full version of RMIV (cue endless debate about whether we actually got this confirmed or not ;) )

Linplug don't even provide a downloadable version for their own customers. 'Cos as far as i'm aware, RMIV is about 600meg in size. So the chances of Mackie making that available on THEIR ftp servers are kinda slim. But we live in hope.

ps If i'm coming across as an arse (i think i probably am), i apologise. Reached that "too tired to be here" stage, should have gone to bed before now. Time to sort that out.

Wonderfull, an 18MB programme explodes into 1G full of samples... I do audio. I neither need nor want a single drum sample... One of the very attractive features of Tracktion 1 is its lean appearance...

I'm sure you wouldnt be forced to install the new plugs. Atleast I hope not.

I neither need nor want a single drum sample.
Neither do I - a cheaper, slimline, downloadable upgrade alternative is what I'm hoping for.

I, and others, have asked for this from the beginning and the reply has been total silence.

Like the way that FL or Sonar or most hosts do it, it would be nice to get the feature set that suits the buyer.

Many of us don't want or need plug-ins, or video support.

The basic T2 could be the upgrade of T1.
The next level could include either plugs or video, and the next level could be the entire package.

But I am not holding my breath, either for a release date or variable packages.
