Hi Mackie Reps and All Tracktion Users,
I purchased my upgrade to Trackion 2 like a lot of you and I am VERY HAPPY with the upgrade price and process!! As a matter of fact, I may not upgrade to Cubase SX 3 now!? Tracktion doesn't use a USB Protection device! Able to use it on two computers! This is definitely the company to take bets on in the DAW Software battle!
Anyway, as I use version 2 tonight, I am going to try using my Tascam FW-1082 Firewire interface with it to see if it works in Mackie Emulation mode. I'll post a setup tutorial if I get it working.
Also, I'll try Sampletank 2 XL, Sonic Synth 2, Halion 3, Stylus RMX, and my TC Works plug-ins to see if I can use all of these...if so, then it's goodbye Cubase!

Tascam FW-1082 in Mackie Emulation Mode?

Just for the archive's...
It's March 2016 now and I've only just began using a Tascam FW-1082. The mode I tried 1st was the Tascam's own 1082 within it's control panel, and Tascam US-428 within Cubase, which works well with the most basic of transport functions, except the arrows on the 1082 don't function, nor jog wheel.
In Mackie mode it works ok with Cubase, and all functions seem to work, however when I use the arrows on the Tascam to move up/down selecting tracks, I keep quick bursts of screeches on instrument tracks, and also the left/right arrows trigger those instrument tracks sounds. If I'm still on any instrument tracks, pressing START, STOP etc, also triggers whatever instrument is on.
HUI mode seems to work just as good as the Mackie mode, but WITHOUT those annoying screeches, so I'm now using the HUI mode.
It's only been less than a couple of weeks that I've been using the Tascam FW-1082, but the main issue I'm still having is that this thing doesn't want to respond to anything right away to the laptop that I'm using it with...no audio, or responses. I have to restart the 1082, my laptop, open/close Cubase numerous times before I basically get LUCKY and it starts to get 'catch'. When it finally does, the audio is always choppy for several minutes as it has intermittent pauses in PLAY mode...gradually, and after a while it get's better, and then remains PERFECT.
It doesn't seem to be a warm up thing, because if it's on say 1,2, or even 3 hours...as soon as it get's turned off, and even immediately turn it back on, I have to go through the same process of getting it stable.
I've tried different combinations of powering order, and nothing seems to make any difference. If there's a magic procedure I haven't found it.
Oh, one more thing. Just yesterday I discovered that if I click on the speaker icon on my laptops task bar, I had to be sure in this dialog box that the Tascam's I/O's were set properly. I did find that the s/pdif was set to my default play back. I'm not so sure that this makes any difference within the DAW software, but probably more like using the Tascam for other sound purposes. Either way, I set it. I DID work within Cubase before I saw this after all. It certainly didn;t help the issue of getting it recognized & stable period.
