T2 justifies 100 $ upgrade price (without plug ins).

20$ = nothing!
OK, it is good for poor students.
But with low budget we'll not see rapid improvements in future.
T2 is not big step from T1, but anyhow it would be accepted by 99% of T1 users at 100$ upgrade price assuming strong development will follow good market respond.
I guess that Mackie now wishes to attract as much as possible potential users at very low price for something that is attractive by the concept and will score at T3.
I don't say thanks, I wish you (Mackie/Jules) to develop it further and DO NOT FOCUS AND SPEND on plug ins. 90% of users DO NOT depend on plug ins bundled with sequencers.

Right. Let's complain about a low upgrade price and tell Mackie how they are screwing up. I guess complaining is just built into some folks' DNA... Amazing.

A lot of folks are fed up with developers who view the user base as sources of easy cash (think BIAS) rather than going after new users. Thank goodness Mackie has approached this the way they have - for the long haul.
Perhaps Mackie / Raw Material could provide a donations page so that users like yang who feel they have underpaid can ease their conscience!

you have a point on focussing on the
Application and not the plugins.
I was right with the 20 dollar upgrade price
for existing T1 users, maybe i talked sense
in saying T2 doesn't justify an upgrade price
higher than 20 bucks (and they read it
But what surely justify's more money than
20 bucks is the very good new mackie compressor plugin, other companies charge serious money (Hello WAVES)
and don't make them better than this.
For midi i will continue using my atari megaST and Notator 3.22, so mackie/Jules ,focus on the audio -
side of T2 because midi at this point still remains under par.
Sure i upgraded to T2, and i think every T1 non NFR
will do the same or has allready.

90% of the plugins that come with T2 are from 3rd party vendors spending their own R&D cash. Including them requires zero effort on Mackie's part, Yango zee Tango.GYang wrote: DO NOT FOCUS AND SPEND on plug ins. 90% of users DO NOT depend on plug ins bundled with sequencers.
People will always find something to bitch about.

There is a viable solution.
Upgrades can be offered (as Logic or Giga Studio) in several variants (basic, advannced, pro, total etc.). 159$ - 499$. Why not?
The point is not to wait for years until one with low budget will elevate otherwise really excellent concept to its full potential.
For example, add real pro level time/speed related, sample rate and bit depth conversion alghorithms and charge more, who needs it will pay it with pleasure.
Also, new users will gradually shift toward better variants at moment that suits them the best.
But hopefully at any price Tracktion will still remain Tracktion and that's the most important.

Ok, hands up anyone who can answer this one? Anyone? Yes, little Timmy Thumbbum, you've got your hand up, aww, aren't you sweet, what are you now, three years old? Ok Timmy, tell the boys and girls "Why Not?"GYang wrote:There is a viable solution.

Speak up Timmy, the boys and girls can't hear why Mackie should give loyal Tracktioneers a generous upgrade offer of only $20, rather than one that costs between 2 and 6 times the cost of the original software ...
f**king hell ........

Seriously, though--
I'm "this" close to taking a vacation from this forum because people are NEVER EVER EVER going to stop whining around here. There have been tonnes of positive posts, too, but unfortunately the negative ones keep overshadowing them no matter how hard I try to just tune them out.
I don't need negativity from my brother musicians. Major issues, sure-- they need to be addressed. But just posting your stupid negative opinion because you like to hear your own voice is getting really annoying.
I'm not speaking just to GYang here, though-- I mean, if people are that small that you need to desperately look for validation from complete strangers on your narrowly-thought perspectives, I think you probably have other things that you should be doing with your time that will impact your life in a more positive way.
The inverse, however, is not true-- if you have wee bits of positivity to share, by all means share them. I'm sure most people would agree that nobody gets sick of healthy positivity (ie. not mere bragging).

The 'one version, one upgrade path' is refreshing. But GYang, you're even nuttier than your topic-starting post if you think that Mackie doesn't have enough money to throw at this thing. Find the package that works for you and go with it. Tracktion is what it is.
And thanks again to Mackie for the cheap upgrade. Leaves me enough cash to license the Cambridge EQ.
Wellbutrin for everyone!

Well I'm dissapointed Mackie didn't include a barter option
I've got five fat pigs here ready for slaughter what will I do with all that bacon? Jules ,Beno you listening?Tracktion pork roast maybe?
Seriously this $20 dollar upgrade path is so generous and the NFR users are getting a sweet deal as well. Well done guys! You made my day!
(some of this debate makes me so glad I'm not in retail or costumer service)
Don't worry Yang Mackie is one of the largest hardware companies out there and they will have plenty of money for tracktion development, with the way they are treating there costumers it looks like they are in it for the long haul.
I wouldn't be surprised if some very juicy post T2 release updates get released, in terms of features and bundled plugs.
Be happy everyone!
