Not showing up as a rewire device. Mac OS 10.3.8. T2 and Live 4 Lite.

I've contacted Ableton support as well. It should be working.

Any suggestions?

I like the idea of using the two apps together. Aside from the better time stretching / loop integration, Live has a basic sampler with adsr called "simpler". I also like Live's "impulse" drum plug - very easy to use.

Live 4 Lite was bundled my M Audio Firewire Audiophile.

I figure if this doesn't work in "Rewire", I'll give "Jack" or "Soundflower" a try and route the audio output from Live to Tracktion that way. Still, it would be very useful to just drop the "Rewire" plug on a track and send midi. Perhaps, I'll still need to use Jack to route the audio back into T2?

Thanks.

OK

I got Live to sync up with T2 - added directory to search paths and did a rescan.

Now I can't seem to get my head around rerouting audio out of Live into Tracktion and recording without using Jack. Tracktion is monitoring the hardware output and I can route it via sends and more but I can't record unless I can route it to an input. This seems like a shortcoming. If the program "sees" the audio, why can't I record it?

I'm probably missing something simple. Meanwhile, feel free to chime in if anyone has any suggestions. I'd prefer not to use Jack if I can help it.

On your Rewire track, insert a blank audio clip, then render. You'll then have your Live track recorded in T and you won't need to launch Live any more unless you want to render more loops.

I'm using T2/Live4 in this way any it's working out great. I'll boot up Live to work out a small arrangement, mostly rhythm, then when I'm ready, save it, boot T2, create my Rewire tracks, launch Live, and render the Live tracks with whatever tempo changes etc. I want in my song. Then from then on I only need T2.

They make a really nice combination IMO.

Thanks Braj. That's really useful. I also like how quick and easy to use Live is for creating rhythm beds. The "impulse" drum filter is just enough software for creating sample banks on the fly.

I'd still like to be able to play live's "simpler" sampler into T so I'll start tinkering with Jack later.

For me, both of these instruments, and a heck of alot of cpu load, could be resolved natively in Tracktion if the built in sampler evolved just a little bit - ADSR, drag'n'drop pads, one click assign multiple samples across keyboard, retuning/stretching. That would be nice.

Sample layering and cross fading key ranges could all come in a future version or as a standalone plug from Mackie. Hope someone is paying attention.

It's great that the software bundle is now including some solutions to this but I prefer Jules' sense of design and gui/audio integration - not the least of which is low cpu use.
