Alright, so here's the deal. I had to record a classical concert on saturday, and i didn't have logic pro 6 installed on my iMac G5, so i fired up Tracktion, messed with it a bit and all seemed well. Used that to record at 24bit 96KHz, and everything went stellar. i transfer the files over to my Powermac G4 to load into logic, edit and bounce, but when the aiff files load into logic they come up as just a solid block of white noise. Same thing happens in Peak LE. I open the Tracktion session and everything is fine. So i do all my editing in Tracktion (which was quite slick, i might add) and all is well until i go to render the files. i cut all the individual pieces up from the live performance for burning to cd, and tried exporting the regions 1 by 1, but when i export these to aiff files (staying at 24/96 so i can dither in logic or peak) they still come out as chunks of white noise in logic and peak.
T1 will still play these files fine, the other weird thing is that they will open and play perfectly in iTunes as well. i'm trying rendering the actual track itself to see if that will make a file that will open in logic, but i'm not sure this will even work. can anyone tell me what the heck is going on here with Tracktion, and what I'm doing wrong? My audio interface i recorded with was a MOTU 828mkII, the one i'm using for the editing is an 896HD, running 10.3.9 on both machines (iMac G5 1.6GHz, PowerMac G4 1.2GHz). Tracktion is the last version of 1 that was released, Logic is version 6.4.2 and i'm using the latest version of Peak 4 LE. if anyone could please help me out, i have to have this cd put together by tomorrow. Thanks.

i have a vague memory of issues with 24-bit aiff files.. try exporting wavs instead?

Worth trying 32-bit exports too, if the extra file-size isn't an issue..

well, i went and clicked on the track itself and selected "render track to specific file" and rendered it to an aiff that opened fine in logic.... good enough for me. weird though.

yea, i found it weird too. i think what i found more strange was that ITUNES of all freakin programs would open the exported files when logic and peak wouldn't. just strange.Lunch Money wrote:So rendering worked but exporting didn't? Curious.I would have thought they'd use the same engine. Ah well, glad you got it sorted.

must be a header specific problem than. maby you can save it with itunes after some smal editing (maby a some sort of fade.. or simply save with another name) and than it's possible to open it in logic.
i need a lunch break
