Render in 32 bit?

I track in 24 bit, but I'm rendering in 32 to see if that will help accuracy. I notice that even though my spectrum analyzer on my 2 bus shows that i have most volume around 900--3k, once i render and send it to soundforge 7, i check it again. It always shows peaks at like 48, and I never boost anything there.

is T2 rendering mixes and making them a little muddy? What is the deal on the issue right now? I just want my mixes to translate correctly. It's most inportant before i send them to be mastered.

So it sounds like you can render at 32 bits. What's the secret?
I'm trying to render an audio file at 32 bits, which T2 is supposed to be able to do according to the reference guide. I'm rendering it from the "export" button where you can export a render of an entire edit. T2 only gives me the option of 8,16, or 24 bits. My audio hardware is 24 bit (MOTU 828 mkII). Do you have to have 32 bit hardware in order for T2 to render at 32 bits? How do I get the 32 bit option? Boy does T2 sound good in 64 bit math mode!!!!!

there is a (strange) difference in implementation between render and export options.

If you export you can pick any rate you want.

If you render then Tracktion uses whatever your ASIO device is set to use.

then exchange ASIO for the Mac counterpart - the basic behaviour stays the same, I believe.

Apparently Tracktion, for whatever reason, adds unwanted low level noise on rendering to wave file, which is not dither noise. This has already been discussed in another thread here and apparently it is a top priority bug.

You should check out the post ( mixing rme hdsp9652) by Gyang ..especially since you use sound forge

and, I said Render..I meant Export!..sorry to confuse.

Is it better to export as a Wav or render? Ill check out that thread also.

to add to that, when I hit export, and audio, it says it is rendering..so..is there even a difference or a different series of commands i should use? I record in 24/44.1 and export a rendered file at 32 bits into soundforge...i have always been known to get nice, clean, bright mixes, and I just hear a lack of clarity. it could be an error on my part, but that analyzer in soundforge shows a ton of sub frequencies like 48 in my signal..maybe it's just a big kick drum, but I dont think so.

TapeIt 2...

http://www.kvraudio.com/get/945.html

'cause offline rendering ALWAYS has the potential to get you into trouble... not just because of bugs in the host (and believe me, Tracktion is not the only one with problems), but bugs in any number of a zillion plugs you may use...

In addition, it allows you to render any single track(s) to any bit depth... Don't know how I ever lived without it!

i second this (shelled out my $19 just this evening actually) ... BUT ... note that recording with this plugin (while accurate to what you hear and avoiding any rendering inaccuracies in your host or plugins) only - obviously - works at the samplerate your soundcard is currently set to ... but as stated bit depth can be arbitarily set ...

ahh..relief..the tracktion forum delivers yet again.

What was the relief? You are paying more money for basic functionality absent in tracktion?

or you can try Voxengo's Recorder ... http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1562.html as a temp work around solution. It's free

tru..i went for tapeit because it has some options that i really like.

but I asked for a workaround fake, I got one. Yes it sucks that I had to pay 19 dollars, but I need to get stuff done and I can't wait on developers. The program delivers enough in other areas, that dropping 19 dollars on a workaround isn't the end of the world for me. I have people waiting on mixes that sound great before they get rendered in tracktion. Anything will help me at this point.
