Tracktion Software

Hi,
I'm using BFD drums and want to use individual outs. Problem is after I create the rack,I dont understand what I'm supposed to do next to get say, just the kick on it's own output. Can someone help me with that or point me to a site with more detailed info? Very frustrating.

T1 or T2?

T2 can auto-connect once you drop BFD in the rack. In T1 you have to create the additional outputs yourself.

After you have the rack with all the outputs, you drop the rack in as many tracks as you have stereo outputs.
Then you click on the rack filter symbol for each track (at the right of the screen), and in the properties panel (bottom middle) you see two drop down boxes with the output channels. Just select the L and R output you want to use in that track.

After you have done that, you can add effects etc on each track that process the output signal...

Something you might want to do after you understand how it works: You can change the labels for the outputs in the rack, and rename output 1 L to bassdrum L, output 6 to Hihat R, etc.

(I hope this helps, typing at work now, so no T1/T2 at my fingertips to check the exact labels)

you can speed up the rack creation process by inserting the plug on a track, then r-click -> 'wrap this filter in a new rack'

This will create all the outputs and name them for you..

i did a little guide a while back for someone using DK+ but the principles are EXACTLY the same ...

Nice one. I hated trying to set up racks manually. Now I won't avoid Tracktion any longer. Racks are no longer a headache.

One question I still have. How do I assign each of the BFD outs to separate channels?

Beardedone, if you start laying down some out-there jazzy stuff in Tracktion; beats and leads like your other stuff, I want to be 'schooled'.

Thanks man But I am still in newbie land with Tracktion. And it seems impossible to route BFD all outputs in T2. I have no trouble in FLS or Sonar or even Live 5. I concedecthat racks are still confusing me. I cannot separate the outputs.

pHz's linked tut is definately hitting the nail on the head.

I think it's this part in particular that you might be missing out:

Once you've got a rack in a track (ooh, that rhymes...), you can Ctrl-Drag the rack itself into other tracks and set the outputs for that track. (1/2) on the rack in track 1, (3/4) on the rack in track 2, etc. etc.

3 - drag an instance of the rack filter holding DK+ to each track you want to mix seperately (ive named them in the example so you can see easily what goes where) ...

How is this done? When I drag it from track one it leaves behind an empty space. How do you do propagate it?

midi channel is set per clip, not by track.
