i read today that live5 is announced and it has new features that make tracktion useless for mackie, like pdc, clipfreeze and mackie control support. and i saw a streamed down version of live was often bundled with some mackie stuff?

... at this precise moment in time i dont think it would make ANY sort of economic / marketing / corporate image sense to drop tracktion ...

... besides ... different market sectors (in terms of both functionality and price point)

live is sometimes bundled with M-Audio stuff, but I don't see Digi dropping support for ProTools...

Cool. I'm jumping ship and dropping Tracktion right now. I'm really disappointed though because I love Traction and just upgraded to V2. Its the best, but there's something newer now. Will Live 5 have a de-sucker?

I wouldn't drop Tracktion 2 for Live 5, but I would dump it in a heartbeat for the Jackson 5.

Tracktion is $250 cheaper than Live. Street, that is. I don't think they directly compete for most users. And I feel they actually compliment each other very nicely.

I agree. Tracktion and Live are two different beasts. And even with the added version 5 features, there are still many things that make Tracktion better in some areas. Live has it's better points also.

But what I want to know is why we even have to have threads like this? Where in the world is there ANY information suggesting that Mackie would drop Tracktion, just because Live5 is coming. How stupid. I've heard some people try to suggest that Live5 will make Tracktion useless in other places too. What the...? Again, TOTALLY unfounded assumptions. Live5 won't hurt Tracktion. Just like Tracktion didn't likely hurt Live. Energy XT still flourished even when Racks came out. Tracktion will do the same when Live5 comes out. This is all complete crap.

I really hate being cruel. But I love being realistic.
