been here before ron ... even WITH the visual proof if you cant say how it occured its REALLY tough for us to try and replicate it ...

Oh, the polyphony! Yet another reason to use only monosynths.
perception: the stuff reality is made of.

okay, here's how to replicate it:

1- disable per-track view for input devices
2- ensure the MIDI input is NOT connected to the track
3- create a new empty midi clip
4- enable step recording for the clip
5- play several different notes (with input unconnected)
6- reconnect the input to the track
7- play another note
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

got it !!!

thanks haydxn ... its presumably a slight issue with the MIDI buffer just dumping its contents into the clip when the connection is finally established (although why it DOESNT happen when recording 'normally' is odd i think unless jules just forgot to add / enable a little bit of code in the step-entry process) ...

... workaround for now ron is obviously to NOT use the old style input connections if you can help it ... or to remember to connect your MIDI input to the track BEFORE you begin practising ...

i didn't try it out myself, but it may well have the same effect if you simply disable the record arm button on the new style connectors, and then re-enable it after a few notes. who knows

anyway, it's not like we need to do workarounds, seeing as it was a tricky one to prove! :hihi:

I use the new connectors.
