Just had to ask, is the FM in Z2 Phase based like the DX kind or is it like the kind in most VA synths, or is this part of the big secret?

The FM in Z2 - Phase or not?

It's gonna be phase based, such as in FilterscapeVA btw.
But it's gonna be outstanding in possibilities. You're not limited to using oscillators as modulators, but you can also use selfoscillating filters or whatever module there is.
This is part of the concept... I count 4 oscillators that can be either modulators or carriers or both and 6 additional sound sources + 8 filters that can be modulators.
Each oscillator will also have key / velocity maps so that you have DX-like control over the amount of FM over the keyboard range etc.
You'll see, it's gonna be fun
Cheers,
Urs

- It's gonna be wickid!
I'm not a specialist for FM stuff at all, but I think it's gonna serve your needs beyond stuff that is dedicated to FM.
What you can't do is having 2 or more oscs modulate each other - this would've been to expensive for the structure. But in exchange you get something that exceeds wavetable synthesis, has *usable* additive synthesis, has great filters for substractive AND does FM.
It will never play back samples though. I think it doesn't need to...
D'oh... I must stop teasing... I must still implement so much stuff and make it sound right...
Cheers,
Urs
