I just got my tracktion, installed it, and it indicated that installation was sucessful, but when I tried to open it, I get this message that "Tracktion unexpectedly quit". I tried to re-install several times with the same results. I am using a MAC G-4 running OS-X (Panther) I've got lots of memory. Any thoughts. I wanted to post yesterday, but the earthquake knocked out my DSL

Have you repaired permissions?
Or restarted your computer?
Or restarted your computer?

Usually that's from a bad plugin or VST that Tracktion didn't like on startup... It crashed on me with one of the MDA plugins ...then it will put that one in the ignored section and if you restart it should work. If not, take all your plugs out and try it with no plugs running... And do a rescan of the plugins folder! Probably not the system... although you could delete everything, and do a reinstall??
I'm using 10.3.9 on a Dual 2.0 G5...

Wow, I never thought of that. I remember when I installed Peak the same thing happened. Iwas never prompted to "re-start" with Peak or Tracktion (like other software does) but I do remember doing a re-start and then Peak worked. I will have to try that with Tracktion. Thanks

What do you mean by repairing permissions. I did have to type in my password as normal to add or delete or change settings. but no repair.

Repairing permissions is a Unix thing... Basically relinks all files with their owners so-to-speak... You have to use disk utility (or a program like cocktail) to do this... But like I said, it's probably not your system anyway!

Open Disk Utility (in your folder 'utilities') and run repair permissions. If that or restarting doesn't work, do what DHR53 suggests: remove all vst's from your plug-in folders.

Can I just remove them and put them in a folder on the desk top then put them back in one at a time till I find the culprit ?

Yes - when I first set T up I had problems with various vsts - don't forget to check the skip list on the settings page / plug in tab when you are trying to put them back in. also there is a known issue with Waves plugs.

Also in particular demo versions and the like that want to call up some kind of window as they are loading crashed T for me so view those with suspicion....
