Allow the user to just drag and drop VST plugs instead of doing an entire scan. Scanning my VST plugs takes over an hour. :x (and I can't throw all those free plugs away because I don't know what they do! )

an hour !?! ... i have a fair few plugs still installed (75+ i guess WITHOUT the MDA / mackie ones) and a scan takes about 30 seconds ...

... but yeah ... drag-n-drop of new .dll would be cool (for testing stuff if nothing else)

slainte :?: rob

I'm impressed - I thought I had a lot of plugs, and it takes about a minute.

Then I wonder why it is taking so long... hmmm

I will start the scan have breakfast, shower and come back to the computer and it will still be going...

Beno help! I dread adding new plugs because the scan now takes a couple of hours. I have no other bug issues that I know of. I have no way to know what is causing this problem. Is there anyway to edit some file and add them myself? Need a solution bad.

You can already 'sort of' do this. Add a new plug-in and then just scan for plug-ins that are new or have changed. It should only take a few seconds.

No I think there is something wonky with ths scanning that is definitely system dependant. On one of my system I have very few plug-ins. Just the defaults plus a few others. And it takes ages to scan. Not an hour but a good five minutes at least. I'm pretty sure its on our list to look into but I'll double check and ad it if its not.

Oh, I agree that there's something wonky going on. But won't scanning only for new or changed plug-ins at least cut down his scan time?

That's the kind of scan I am talking about. :(

I'm at 2.5 hours and counting, I am using the computer to surf but still

That can be sooo frustrating. Scanning can take a long time. For me its no longer than a couple of minutes but its still frustrating. Gotta find the problem for sure.

yeah that is the one that takes a long time. Doing a clear and rescan takes even longer.

It takes me about 5 minutes.

It doesn't seem to be just looking for new plugs, but rather it seems to be taking a look at every plug.

Thats an eternity in computer time.

I've only done 1 full scan when I first installed tracktion over 2 years ago. I should do one just to see how long it'll take.
