I bought Tracktion 1 back in the day, and although I thought it had a LOT to recommend it, there were some shortcomings that kept me from using it for any bigger projects.
So, after weeks of resistance, I finally broke down and upgraded to the V2 boxed version last week. After a week of working with it, and deliberately excercising every part of the program that I would use in production, I can safely say that most, if not all of the things that bothered me about V1 have been addressed in V2. The rack-filter thing alone was huge for me!
Over the past week, my music productivity just went up drastically, and I haven't felt the need to open Cubase at ALL.
Hey, what happened to my latency?
I'd also like to sing the praises of the bundled LinPlug, SampleTank, and AmpliTube plugins. I have the LM4MKII, but I'm liking the RM IV much more. SampleTank is great, of course, and AmpliTube, even though it has only three amp models, is extremely versatile, and great in almost every way!
No more back strain from lugging my amp up and down the stairs, because this is the first amp modeling pluging that I've used where I feel that "transparency" and responsiveness that come from a good tube amp.
Also, an honorable mention to some other plugs, including "Final Mix", "Slayer 2", and "FreeAlpha". Really cool choices!
Anyway, I'm feeling like a kid in a candy store. I'm using T2 to do a little soundtrack work at the moment, and it's making the process FUN instead of work. But I also think that now is the time to migrate my 2nd CD's "work in progress" files from Cubase to T2. I have a feeling I'll be finished with it MUCH faster if I do.
