The easier way is to drag the clip onto another empty track (if you dont have any empty tracks hit (control-t), then "render and add", or "render and replace", it'll render a new copy into your project.

Heres another tip, holding shift while you drag will lock the clips time possition so you dont have to worry about aligning it later. You can also control-shift drag to another track to make an identical copy perfectly aligned. Then just hit "render replace" and you'll have your new duplicate clip in your project.
