just got T2 and can't make sound with input devices?

Not getting any signal from my midi controller/keyboard at all, (It's not in the midi/contoller list in the settings section which is a bit worrying?) and I'm not getting a signal from my guitar either.
I have used Traktion 1 previously and I'm sure the settings are the same and correct although I may have overlooked something.

Any ideas?

OS is xp and enable end to end is on? The speaker icon in the midi editor is already highlighted?
