And since the sound studios at work got switched over to Digi002's, I got my pick of the old cabling, which was all based on top-quality Neutrik stereo jack plugs. And about a hundred metre of cable, over various 2-5m chunks.
But not quite as many plugs as I actually need, given the patchbay. And having priced them up they come to about £2.35 each in bulk. I need about 50 of them, which is about £115! Bloody hell!
And now I just bought a Doepfer modular, which I need to make up patch cables for cos I dont really want those moulded things y'get. With steel 2.5mm connectors and some decent shielded cabling(*), thats gonna be about another £40-£50.
Throw in some good quality phonos for a few odds and sods, and its gonna come to about £200 in frigging cables and plugs. Bloody hell again!
I could buy another friggin synth for that.
Oh yeah, and I now think I need another patchbay for my effects pedals now that Im up to about fifteen of them. I seem to be building an effects-pedal modular.
Why did I decide to buy real stuff again?
(*) BTW for anyone who's made up their own patchleads for a modular; what kinda cable/wire did you go for?
